Kristjan Mar talks tourism and search on Norwegian media
Nordic eMarketing's Kristjan Mar Hauksson recently met up with Norwegian media channel Kampanje to discuss Norway's lack of online visibility regarding its tourism industry.
Within the article, Kristjan Mar explains that there are numerous search phrases associated with the tourism industry which yield little visibility for Norway, except if the phrases contain exact keywords like "Norway" or "Oslo", etc.
The article explains that the Ministry of Industry in Norway was presented with 252 million NOK to build upon Norway's commitment to tourism for 2012 - an increase of 0.8 percent. Kristjan Mar followed by saying, "the fact Norway has a budget this size emphasizes that not all funds are being used optimally, and that the strategy should be more Internet-focused."
"Both Norway and Iceland have a reputation of being expensive, but there is no excuse. There are 2.1 billion Internet users, so it must be possible to find people who can afford to visit Norway; the potential is great," he said.
Kristjan Mar believes that Norway could have an estimated eight million tourists annually if Norway's tourism industry to more time into optimisation and search.
